Observatory Hydro Projects

The Observatory Hydro Projects comprise 17 hydroelectric projects in development, all located within 30 km of the town of Kitsault, British Columbia. The town of Kitsault is situated approximately 60 km southeast of Stewart and 140 km northeast of Prince Rupert. The projects are being developed in three clusters in order to maximize synergies associated with interconnection, common infrastructure, and construction costs:

  1. Lower Observatory Inlet Project Cluster,
  2. Alice Arm Project Cluster, and
  3. The Upper Kitsault Valley Project Cluster.
Confederation Power works with a BC joint venture partner to advance the projects. Further, the company is working closely with the Gingolx Village Government (the local First Nation Community which is part of the Nisga'a Nation). The Nisga'a Lisims Government has also provided referral letters for the Anyox Creek and Upper Kitsault River projects.
